Overview of the College of Humanities

The history of the College of Humanities  at Sichuan Agricultural University can be traced back to the Economics major (Specialist) of Social Science Department of Sichuan Agricultural University established in 1993. The young Humanities College of Sichuan Agricultural University was established in October 2016 after its predecessors -- Humanities and Social Sciences College of Sichuan Agricultural University (2003-2009), Language College of Sichuan Agricultural University (2009-2011), Humanities and Law College of Sichuan Agricultural University (2011-2016). The college has five undergraduate majors including English Language and Literature , Human Resource Management, Chinese Language and Literature, Cultural Industry Management, Administrative Management as well as the Master of Human Resource Management (Level 2). At present, there are 2,000 undergraduate students and dozens of master students.

The college consists of 9 departments -- English Department, Human Resource Management Department, Chinese Department, Cultural Industry Management Department, Administrative Management Department, Public Foreign Language Department, and Chengdu Department of Education. There are 4 laboratories including Human Resources Management Comprehensive Laboratory and Language Laboratory. The college also has the training and research institutions of Sichuan Agricultural University such as the Putonghua Proficiency Test Center, the IPA Foreign Language Training and Testing Center, the Foreign Language Training Center and the Tibetan Tea Culture Research Center.

The college has 133 faculty members, including 125 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, 69 have master's degree or above (including 17 doctors), accounting for 55% of the total number of teachers. Currently, among the teachers of the college, there are 32 with senior titles: 7 professors, 7 master's tutors and 6 foreign teachers from the United Kingdom, the United States, France and other countries. Among the full-time teachers, there are candidates for academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, directors of the Foreign Language Teaching Research Association of the National Agricultural and Forestry College, experts in the compilation of special teaching materials for the Ministry of Agriculture, and the head of the Southwestern Region of the Chinese Collaborative Group of Agricultural and Forestry Universities, members of the Sichuan University Chinese Language Research Association, directors of Sichuan Foreign Language Teaching Research Association, directors of Sichuan Society of Applied Linguistics, senior visiting scholars of famous European and American universities, directors of Sichuan Erhu Society, and Sichuan Provincial Putonghua Level testers.

The college attaches great importance to teaching and scientific research. In recent years, the college teachers have published more than 400 academic papers on teaching and scientific research in academic journals above the provincial level, including more than 200 papers in core journals and above, and more than 40 editors editors and deputy editors. The college teachers have also completed 6 monographs, presided over 42 provincial-level research projects, and presided over more than 20 national-level projects, including two national social science fund projects.
